Parents & Students:
Canadian ISD wants to take this opportunity to let you know how grateful we are for our parents, students and community. We are so fortunate to have faculty and staff members that are committed to serving our students and families here in Canadian. We want to say thank you for the support during this time of remote instruction. We recognize the challenges that come with our new remote learning environment. We appreciate all the feedback you have given us as we implement this new system.
As we move further into the final six weeks grading period (began on April 6th), we want to assure you that our focus remains on doing what is best for our students and families during these challenging times. We believe that feedback is essential to the learning process, and provides our students and parents with a way to monitor and measure student learning. Beginning with April 6th in our gradebook, teachers will enter letter grades for assignments (as described in the next paragraph). Every class will have one grade at the beginning of the final grading period that we are calling a Place Holder Grade (we will enter a 100 for that Place Holder Grade for every student). The Place Holder Grade is just a blank grade that is required in our grade book program so that our teachers can start using the modified letter grades for remote instruction assignments.
During this time of closure, CISD will have a modified grading procedure. We will not enter number grades for assignments given during remote instruction. Furthermore, assignments given during the time of remote instruction will not be used for GPA calculation or class ranking. Teachers will review student work and provide feedback. Students are expected to complete work to receive credit in their courses. Click here to view the At-Home-Learning Grading Procedures and descriptions of the grades below:
