Heather Sawyer
I graduated from Amherst High School and then attended Abilene Christian Universtiy.
Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Abilene Christian University in 1994
I started back to teaching in 2007 at Baker, subbing for the year. I then started the distance learning lab dedicated to a reading lab. The reading lab eventually phased out and the lab was dedicated to online learning. In 2015, I had the pleasure of starting the Health Science program for the high school. In 2019 I started teaching BIM, Yearbook and Accounting. I am adding Business Law and Business Managment as well as Human Services, Principles of Education and Child Development to my classes this year.
Through college, I worked at a dental office. After graduating, I subbed and worked full time at the dental office until moving to Kansas. I taught 8th Science for six years while in Kansas. We moved to Canadian in 2001 to raise our twin girls, Tess and Kylie. I took some time off from teaching to raise my girls and then started back to being with students in 2007 at Canadian.
I married Shane after college and we lived in Kansas. In 2001, we moved to Canadian with our twin girls. We love this small community and school system and enjoy being Wildcats.
When I am not teaching, I love to cook. I enjoy volunteering in my community.
